3 Ways To Grow In God
God wants us to grow spiritually. He wants us to grow in His word and make it evident in our lives. This is important in order to get through this thing we call life. He wants us to grow in our faith and in our prayer life.
When I pray and seek God, I can see clearly the plan He has for me, and this helps me stay in spiritual alignment. There are so many things we go through on a daily base but when we focus on God’s word and let Him lead us, it gives us hope and peace. God said to seek Him first and all other things will be added to us. In 2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”
He is a jealous God and He doesn’t want us to put anything or anyone ahead of Him. When we grow spiritually, we can recognize the enemy and the spiritual attacks a little faster. We can discern when we are in spiritual warfare and how to fight the enemy.
When we grow spiritually, we allow the Holy Spirit as our comforter to lead and guide us. This is spiritual alignment. The word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.
Let’s focus 2019 on growing spiritually. When we do this, we will reap eternal awards. Here are three things to consider to help you grow spiritually.
Seek God Daily Through His Word
The only way to truly know God is to know His word. When we read His word, we will learn of God’s character. We will learn the things He likes and dislikes. We must allow the word to get deep in our spirit, so we can be our guide. It’s like when you make a deposit at the bank, you can later make a withdrawal.
If there is nothing in the bank you can’t get anything out. You don’t have to spend the entire day reading the bible but give God at some of your time throughout the day. I prefer to submit time in the morning to help guide my day. Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
Stay connected to a church
When you are a believer it is good to stay connected to a church. This is important, so you can learn and grow in God as well. Being connected to a church allows you to fellowship with other believers and to build up the kingdom. God doesn’t want to do this thing alone; He wants us to stay connected.
Let the Holy Spirit Guide your life
The Holy Spirit is our comforter, to lead and guide us into all truth. When we let the Holy Spirit lead us this will help us grow in the fruits of the spirit. Grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. This is when we can recognize the spiritual growth in our life.
Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
When you are growing spiritually you don’t have the same carnal thinking because the Holy Spirit has enlightened you of the truth. When you know the truth, you are a new creature and all the old things are passed away and behold all things become new.
