I’m Strong…But I Have No Endurance
Isn’t it funny how much our spiritual walks are a reflection on our natural walks?
My struggle in the gym is that I’m strong, but I have no endurance. I run a 100 meters and you would swear I’ve died. Over the summer it got a little better because I was running 5 days a week. These days, I’m back to 100 meters and a fall out tantrum. Thank God I workout alone!
I go through some things. We’ve become so adamant about taking L’s in private and wins in public that sometimes we miss the beauty in the L’s we’ve taken. Sometimes what we call L’s, Jesus has called victories. I’m strong, and I go through a lot. I can move through the fire, but I can’t stand the heat for too long! I know who has the victory in my tests, but I want to control when the testing is over! “I” want to control. “Like okay God, I been here too long!” “I’ve been feeling this way for some time now. Jesus let this test be over!”
Endurance is not my fruit. (“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23 NIV) Sometimes it’s not about moving through the fire. Sometimes you have to sweat that thang out. If God says be still in the test, then I want to be right where He told me to be. It’s in the fire where we get hot for God!
“Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.” James 1:2-4 MSG
Father God, I thank you for filling me with a fire that only wants to burn for You, Jesus. I thank You for Your love, and Your grace, and Your mercy Lord. I thank you for every test that brings me closer to You. I thank you for Your blood, for by Your blood I have been set free. I never want to grow cold when it comes to the affairs of Your heart. I pray I never allow any testing of my patient endurance to stand between us, for I am nothing without you. I pray this in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah & Amen!
