Thieves Don’t Break Into Empty Homes
My inbox has been flooded with people sending me beautiful words of affirmation and encouragement to keep going and fighting in my journey with God and self-discovery. Ever since I started posting about my weight loss journey, so many people have shared that they have been inspired by the journey in some way. There have been so many times where I have considered being more private about the journey. Thinking that if I can just dress down the blessings then maybe I can slide through life unnoticed. I was having a hard time dealing with the pressure of constantly trying to be someone that I didn’t see myself as. How can I ever live up to what everyone thinks of me when I don’t see what they see? Most days, my thoughts are my biggest opposition.
God gave me a revelation this morning. I saw an Instagram post that read: “Thieves don’t break into empty homes.” I get the message. If what you carried weren’t worth anything, you’d have no opposition. The devil comes to steal (John 10:10) and why would he waste his efforts on a house that didn’t carry any value. I continued to pray and meditate.
How does a thief know from the outside if the house is empty? Is it because the house is modest, small, broken, boarded? What if you saw your favorite music artist coming out of a seemingly abandoned home every day?
Not an up and coming artist, but someone that is well established in the world, and has money; someone you’d least expect to be living in a shabby, little, apparently and otherwise disguised as an empty home. Would not a thief be interested in breaking into a home, that is seemingly empty, just because of who owns the home? The thief would see the home as worth so much more because of who owns it, right?
When people see things in me that I don’t see in myself, it’s important for me to remember that they are not seeing “Ana Bella”, but what they are seeing is “the work of God in Ana Bella.” They see who I belong to, so it’s a waste of time to spend it trying to dress down favor or blessings.
No matter what you present to the world on the outer surface, if you are His then the best of thieves would recognize that nothing belonging to Him is truly empty. You can dress down your outer favor but God’s light will shine from the inside out either way! But isn’t that what we’ve all prayed for?
“The sun will no longer be your light by day, Nor shall the bright glow of the moon give light to you, But the Lord will be an everlasting light for you; and your God will be your glory and splendor.”
Isaiah 60:19 AMP
Father God, I thank you for being merciful, and for loving me and keeping me. You are holy, Lord and Your name is worthy to be praised. I lift You up and magnify Your name. I pray that You use me for Your glory in whatever way You see fit. I bind and rebuke any shame in my heart for Your favor or blessings that are bestowed upon me. I am undeserving and unworthy, but Lord You keep loving me anyway. I pray to be Your vessel, and I ask that You move me out of the way! Ana alone is empty, but with You I am made whole, and full. I pray to walk in constant direction of your light, letting it lead my paths into higher heights with You. In the name of the mighty Lord, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
